A quick and easy one pot side dish made with orzo pasta in a creamy boursin cheese parmesan sundried tomato sauce.

This Boursin Cheese Orzo is quick and easy plus it tastes absolutely delicious and pairs perfectly with grilled chicken or tri-tip steak.

I am obsessed with Boursin Cheese and use it in so many of my recipes. My famous TikTok Boursin Cheese Pasta and my Lemon Parmesan Orzo are always huge hits!

So I wanted to create an easy orzo pasta dish highlighting boursin cheese that can be made in one skillet. The beauty of this dish is that you can throw everything in one pan!

Boursin Cheese Orzo Ingredients:

What do I love about this Sundried Tomato Orzo? It is made with the most flavorful ingredients — garlic, sundried tomatoes, boursin cheese, parmesan cheese, and spices.

  • Boursin Cheese — you can use any flavor of Boursin cheese. I love to buy my Boursin cheese at Costco because it is so much less expensive.
  • Orzo Pasta — use your favorite type of orzo pasta. This is a one pot orzo pasta dish so you make everything in one pan.
  • Chicken Broth — this is what we cook the orzo pasta in so the chicken broth infuses the orzo pasta with flavor.
  • Garlic — if you are a garlic lover, add more garlic! This makes the dish that much more craveworthy.
  • Sundried Tomatoes — you can use sundried tomatoes in oil or just dried sundried tomatoes. I suggest cutting into smaller pieces.
  • Heavy Cream — this adds a touch more creaminess to the dish. If you want to omit the heavy cream, I suggest adding more chicken broth in its place.
  • Spices: Salt, Pepper, Basil, Red Pepper Flakes — if you want a touch more spice, I suggest adding more red pepper flakes.
  • Parmesan Cheese — this is what gives this parmesan orzo the perfect, nutty flavor. I suggest using freshly grated parmesan cheese if possible.
  • Optional: Lemon Zest, Spinach, Pine Nuts

How to make Boursin Cheese Orzo:

  • Start by adding boursin cheese to the center of an x-large skillet. Add in orzo pasta, chicken broth, garlic, sundried tomatoes, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  • Heat the skillet over high heat and bring to a boil, stirring often. Once it begins to softly boil, cook for an additional 7-8 minutes. Watch carefully as it make cook quickly. Check to see if the orzo is completely cooked.
  • Fold in freshly grated parmesan cheese. If using, fold in fresh spinach, lemon zest, and fresh basil. Sprinkle with pine nuts, if so desired.
  • Serve warm with extra parmesan cheese.

    What to do if my sundried tomato parmesan orzo doesn’t have enough liquid?

    Pasta is known for soaking up sauce as it comes to room temperature! If you find that the orzo pasta soaks up all of the chicken broth and heavy cream, you can add more chicken broth. Just reheat the boursin cheese orzo in a pan and add a generous splash of chicken broth or heavy cream. You can even use a touch of milk. This will help to create a velvety sauce.

    Can I use anything in place of Boursin Cheese?

    Boursin cheese adds many layers to this dish — creaminess and adds flavor since it is full of spices. If you can’t find boursin cheese, you can substitute full-fat cream cheese but you will want to add some finely minced onion to the dish and Italian seasoning.
