SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police say three inmates at SCI Somerset have been charged with assault for throwing feces at corrections officers on the evening of April 6.
Officials say the alleged assaults occurred as two separate incidents and occurred approximately one hour and 15 minutes apart.
Troopers say at approximately 7:40 p.m. on the night of the incidents, two cellmates, Colby Mummaw, 24, of Mountville and Christopher Myers, 32, of West Chester, both threw feces at two corrections officers who were walking past their cell.
Police add that Myers also spit on one of the officers during the incident.
Then, at approximately 8:55 p.m., another inmate, 27-year-old Vincent Tabone of Carnegie, threw feces at a corrections officer who was walking past his cell, authorities say.
State police add that Tabone also began yelling obscenities at the officer during the incident.
Authorities say all charges against the men, as a result of the incidents, are currently pending.
